Ok, so on Friday my family went to a sled hockey game (regular hockey except for disabled people), and I have to admit -- IT WAS AMAZING. These guys have such arm strength and they can move across the rink at really high speeds!
They have a little plastic seat that is sitting on two poles for support. One side of the poles has two blades about an inch from each other while the other end has a small metal loop for balance. Instead of one long hockey stick, they have two smaller ones to propel the sled and to hit the puck. Other than that, the entire game is exactly the same as original hockey!
We were able to go to the game because my mom has a coworker named Erin and her brother is disabled. He is in the Park City regional team (the team that was playing) and he is the all star. His name is Greg and he's participating in a sled hockey team for the 2010 paralympics in Canada. He also loves to downhill ski!
The game that we saw was really great! Greg's the best of his team and the whole audience was cheering every time he got the puck, calling him out by name and shouting. The eagles (G's team) totally killed the other team 7 to zip.
My mom almost peed her pants because it was her first time ever seeing a hockey game. There was even a small brawl and after it was broken apart, my mom turned over to me and cheerily exclaimed, "Wow Hannah! I didn't know this was such a .... a tough guy sport!"
After the momentary fist fight, the involved players were sent to what my mom retells as a "timeout" on the sidelines.
Overall, I would rate this experience an 11 out of 10. It was really exciting, and it really goes to show that even if you are disabled, you can do anything!
Plus, Tom bought me food out of the vending machines...!

Sled Hockey -- The "Tuff Guy" Sport

Writing
I know this sounds REALLY weird, but for me, writing novel work is somewhat of a passion. I CAN'T write anything that's like persuasive or sci-fi or anything with great confidence, it's just novels or stories that works with me. ( oh, and don't judge from the writing that I have done on this blog -- I'm just messing around! lol)
If I go for a while without writing down something, the weirdest things start to happen. Little by little my life starts to turn into one of my stories. I often find myself narrating my life as if I was in my own book. I keep on unconciously choosing good chapter titles and intro paragraphs, or deciding on a good approach to portray a certain feeling.
Well, it's spring break and I haven't had the usual pressure in my ELP class to constantly produce on-demand writing work, and my brain feels like it's going to EXPLODE! I came and wrote this little post to vent a little so please pardon me!

Chicken Wrapped In Foam
THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST SLOW AND BORING WEEK OF MY LIFE!!!!
Okay, that was a lie, it wasn't that boring.
On the contrary, it was very...interesting.
1. I learned how to waltz with seventh graders
2. I got out of taking a test in elp because i took the teacher pizza
3. I gave my friend a blog, withOUT her consent (graciellabobella.blogspot.com)
4. I learned that ballet REALLY isn't my thing, so i'll just stick to lyrical and jazz
5. Everybody was poking fun at me because i am flexible
6. We gave my dog a bath with Pantene Pro-V. (we ran out of suave) He smells better than my sister.
7. My brother apparently "was washing the conveyer belts", as he claims it.
8. And my mom is on crack.
Okay, not really on crack but we were in TJ MAXX and she saw earings with little silver marjuanna leaves, and, well, let me just tell you:
"AWW! Look at these pretty little leaves!"
"MOM. Those are marjuanna leaves!"
"No there not! There just pretty little leaves!"
We ended up having to practically drag her away.

Cramma Time & a Post Thanksgiving Note
It's the end of the semester, and like the title says, it's really time to CRAM the studies. I already have one test tomorrow, a math packet due, a huge biography check (of Tom, my step dad that includes real interviews) and in art I have to really buckle down and book it with my Aboriginal Dream Painting that literally is a pain.
Do you ever feel like you are living, but not really LIVING? Like life is sort of a...I don't really know, like it feels like you arn't really alive. Your brain just goes through it's usuall steps of the day while you sit back and rather stare. Your head thinks okay, get up. Okay, get dressed. Okay, time to study. Okay, sharpen your pencil. I really don't know how to describe this feeling, it's sort of like a dullness. Almost, I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING HERE -- I'M PERFECTLY HAPPY!!! but a depressing feeling. Like you don't really live on Earth, you are just somebody sitting back, looking through eyes for windows as you physical self completes a test with A's or walks to her next class or stands by friends.
I usually have this feeling (maybe it's stronger because I am really quiet at school), but I just want to say that I am REALLY REALLY thankful for the activities that completely destroy this dullness. Lets name them:
DANCE - definately, first priority. My favorite type of dance is creative/lyrical dance at the University of Utah. Some of my fellow dancers say that I was born with a natural talent, and I really want to try out for company (CDT) this spring. You see, when I dance, I let out all of my feelings to the world, I get to give my brain a rest. I move unseeingly, only one goal in my mind of performing a shadow, or a mountain, or anything that my peers and I are asked to do. Dance is my way of letting out all of my emotions, it's a way to show the world who I really am inside. Whatever happens, whatever accidents may occur, I never want to let that action go.
ART - There is something about painting an abstract picture that is so...I don't really know how to say this, but nourishing. Everybody needs a little break to leak out some artistic-ness, and describing feelings is a way that puts the cherry on top. I love art. Everyone has there own way of art in my family, and we seem to be bursting with it!

To all the "OTAKUs" out there
You go around town trying to eat donuts and act all crazy-like, all the while saying you’re
You try to read every book from right to left.
You think that locket your boyfriend gave you will turn you into a magical girl.
Random battles seem to erupt wherever you go.
Your dreams are animated.
If you actually get these jokes.
